The New York Rangers clearly aren’t pleased with Buffalo Sabres pest Patrick Kaleta’s check from behind on Sunday.
Brad Richards described it as “stupidity.” Head coach John Tortorella also voiced his displeasure to ESPN’s Katie Strang.
“It’s probably one of the most dangerous hits I’ve ever seen,” Tortorella said. “It’s ridiculous.”
Torts said the check was “disgusting” and showed a “lack of respect.”
Again, Kaleta chose not to respond (tonight, at least) while Richards indicated that he’s OK (so far, at least).
In case you’re wondering about possible retribution, the Rangers play against the Sabres two more times in 2013. Both games will take place in Buffalo; one barely more than a week away (March 12) and one near the end of the season (April 19).
