The good news for Dallas’ Jamie Benn is that he won’t miss any time for cross-checking Ryan Jones. The bad news is he’ll be coughing up the maximum amount of money you can be fined.

The NHL announced a $10,000 fine for Benn for his actions late in the Stars 5-1 loss to Edmonton on Thursday night. It’s the first time Benn has been punished by the league for running afoul of the law, but that won’t make giving up ten-grand any easier to take.

We’ve seen Benn’s feisty side pop up a couple times this year including duking it out with Sharks captain Joe Thornton.

Dallas is at home tomorrow afternoon against St. Louis.
