McDonagh expected back tonight for Rangers; Nash probably too

McDonagh

Looking to halt a four-game losing streak, the New York Rangers should have defenseman Ryan McDonagh back in the lineup tonight against Tampa Bay at Madison Square Garden, per The Daily News.

McDonagh was hit from behind into the boards by Montreal’s Max Pacioretty on Saturday and missed Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to Winnipeg as a result. The 23-year-old is third on the team in average ice time (23:45).

The Daily News also reports that forward Rick Nash (undisclosed) expects to play, but it will be a game-time decision. Defenseman Michael Del Zotto (lower body) is a question mark.

Nash hasn’t played since Feb. 17 -- which also happens to be the last time the Rangers won.

In other moves on Thursday, the Rangers sent rookie Chris Kreider back to AHL Connecticut.
