Colorado wins in OT but Blues’ Tarasenko, Avs’ Hejduk leave game with injuries

Blues-Avs

All it took was one shot for the Colorado Avalanche to beat the St. Louis Blues, but it took 64 minutes and 43 seconds to happen.

Avalanche winger David Jones scored with 17 seconds remaining in overtime, as the Avalanche defeated the Blues 1-0 in overtime.

Colorado’s netminder Semyon Varlamov was by far the busier of the two goalies. He stopped all 33 shots he faced. At the other end, Blues netminder Jaroslav Halak faced only 20 shots. He stopped all but one.

However, Injuries to two different players overshadowed the results.

Blues rookie Vladimir Tarasenko needed to be helped off the ice after taking a hit from Colorado’s Mark Olver.

The Avalanche also couldn’t escape a potential injury situation.

Veteran forward Milan Hejduk, 37, left the game and did not return due to a torso injury.
