The Devils will be without Ryan Carter for their next two games -- both of them in Washington, on Thursday and Saturday -- as the forward continues to recover from a head injury (via NHL.com).
Carter, 29, was hurt during Monday’s 2-1 shootout loss to Ottawa when he was sandwiched by Senators players David Dziurzynski and Chris Neil.
Pete DeBoer wouldn’t say whether Carter has a concussion. “I don’t know what the official terminology is.”

Carter’s absence should mean the return of rookie Stefan Matteau to the line-up tomorrow. The 18-year-old was skating with Stephen Gionta and Steve Bernier today at practice.
