The lower body ailment that caused Mike Green to leave practice early yesterday will keep him off the ice tonight.

Coach Adam Oates told reporters this morning at Madison Square Garden that Green will be out tonight and Tom Poti will take his place on the blue line alongside Karl Alzner as Stephen Whyno of The Washington Times shares. Poti last played nearly two weeks ago on February 5.

Green’s absence in the past for Washington has only led to slumps and trouble. With the Capitals seemingly finding their way after a slow start, this injury could be ill-timed.
