The New York Islanders got goals from four different players, including a beauty from John Tavares (see video), in a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Matt Moulson also had a goal and assist, as the Islanders chased Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury from the net to begin the third period, after he allowed four goals on 17 shots.
After beginning the season with back-to-back wins, the Penguins have no dropped three of their last four games, including their first two on home ice at the CONSOL Energy Center.
The Islanders also held Evgeni Malkin off the score sheet, while Sidney Crosby had one assist – coming on Pascal Dupuis goal with 1:09 remaining in the third period.
The typically struggling Islanders are now just one point back of the New Jersey Devils for top spot in the Atlantic Division.
While the Penguins seem to be lacking “emotion and spirit,” Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma told Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
