NHL, NHLPA wrap up conference calls

The NHL and NHLPA ended Saturday’s conference calls (intended to explain the league’s newest proposal), according to Renaud Lavoie of RDS. It’s expected that further information will be provided on Sunday morning.

Lavoie also reports that the players’ and owners’ sides are expected to resume CBA talks either late on Sunday or sometime on Monday.

That sounds pretty promising, although we’ll need to wait and see; ESPN’s Katie Strang reports that face-to-face meetings haven’t been planned yet.

The union is reportedly working on a counteroffer, so while informational sessions don’t sound very exciting, they could be helpful in wrapping that process up.

It’s heartening that discussions might kick into gear around New Year’s Eve because time is starting to run out on this process.
