Today in New York, in what one observer is calling “a big move in the owners’ direction,” the NHLPA has reportedly proposed that the players’ share of hockey-related revenue be calculated as a percentage, as it was under the last CBA.
The NHL recently expressed frustration with the union’s demands for a guaranteed dollar amount going towards the players. The league has also indicated it won’t accept such a proposal.
Of course, we don’t know what percentage of HRR the NHLPA has requested, so don’t get too excited yet. The devil, as they say, is in the details.
