According to a report out of Germany, Rick DiPietro is being held out of action with SC Riessersee due to a groin injury.
Update: DiPietro is now denying the report, according to the New York Post’s Brett Cyrgalis
DiPietro’s injury history is well known. The Islanders’ goalie with the contract that runs through 2020-21 missed the last 58 games of the 2011-12 regular season with, according to the club, “first with a groin strain and then with a sports hernia and knee swelling.”
In August, the Isles removed the 31-year-old from injured reserve.
