The NHLPA held a conference call this afternoon for its executive board and negotiating committee.
Did anything interesting come out of it?
According to Predators captain Shea Weber, it did not.
“Nothing new,” Weber told The Tennessean. “I think it’s all pretty well known in the media, what’s going on right now.”
The union has said repeatedly that it’s ready and willing to sit down with the NHL, but that the league won’t meet because it wants to dictate the agenda.
It’s been reported the Winter Classic will be canceled Friday unless there’s significant CBA progress.
Update (4:02 pm ET):
An unidentified player tells ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun that “the overwhelming feeling on the call was that players want NHLPA leadership back in the bargaining room with the NHL to explore what kind of flexibility from the league’s part there exists on key issues.”
