Patrice Bergeron misses Swiss game, is reportedly ‘fine’

Patrice Bergeron

Patrice Bergeron didn’t play for HC Lugano in the Swiss League on Wednesday because of an upper body injury. Fortunately, he’s only day-to-day, according to CSNNE’s source.

The source called Bergeron “fine,” which would make him the second major Boston Bruins player to suffer a minor injury this week.

Bruins starting goaltender Tuukka Rask recently pulled his groin while playing for HC Plzen of the Czech league. However, Rask downplayed the injury saying, “it is not serious.”

With a sizable chunk of the NHL’s top-tier players in Europe, there is a constant fear that one of them could suffer a serious injury that will impact the 2012-13 season when/if it’s finally salvaged.

For example, if the 2012-13 season were to start today, the New Jersey Devils would be at a disadvantage because blueliner Anton Volchenkov recently broke his foot during a KHL contest.
