The regular season is supposed to start on Oct. 11. The only problem is there hasn’t been a single preseason game yet and, even more importantly, the union and NHL haven’t shown any outward signs that they’ve made significant progress towards a new CBA.
The question has begun to shift from if regular season games will be canceled to when. The answer is not until Friday, according to Sportsnet’s Michael Grange.
That would be roughly a week after the NHL scrapped what was left of the preseason schedule. The lost preseason has cost the league closed than $100 million.
The lockout has also hurt “workers, businesses, and families,” according to two US Senators from New Jersey.
