We’ll give you the bad news before we get to the good news.
The bad news is that the NHL and NHLPA met briefly today in New York and got nowhere closer to reaching a new CBA.
According to deputy commissioner Bill Daly, there was “no progress” and “today wasn’t overly encouraging that’s for sure.”
The two sides have agreed to stay in touch, but no further meetings are planned.
“Unless [the players] show some willingness to compromise, I don’t know how we get this done,” said Daly, who added that the cancellation of the preseason cost the NHL about $100 million.
The good news is…we lied, there’s no good news.
