In a bit of a tease, TSN reports the NHL and NHLPA will meet on Monday in Toronto. What they won’t be doing is negotiating a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Instead, the two sides will be going over last season’s hockey related revenue (HRR) as well as escrow payments for the players. The players are due to receive their first escrow checks in October and figuring out the money to do that is kind of necessary.
It’s been nearly a full week since the lockout began and the two sides have yet to sit down for any meaningful discussions. While Bill Daly and Steve Fehr have kept in contact, nothing of substance has gone on.
Nick Cotsonika of Yahoo! Sports says there’s a chance things will lighten up next week and more discussion will take place.
