The New York Islanders signed defenseman Matt Martin to a four-year contract worth $4 million, according to ESPN-NY’s Katie Strang.

Much like last minute deals such as Evander Kane’s six-year pact, the Isles locked up the restricted free agent just before the current CBA is set to expire.

Martin scored 14 points and collected 121 penalty minutes while averaging a bit more than 12 minutes of ice time in his 80 games with the Isles last season.
