Rangers owner: “I want us to play hockey”

James Dolan

The New York Rangers are one of the most profitable franchises in the NHL, so it’s no surprise its owner, James Dolan, wants to get back to business as soon as possible.

“The only thing I can say is that I want us to play hockey,” Dolan told ESPNNewYork.com over the weekend.

However, the fact he said anything other than “no comment” will raise some eyebrows. Individual owners have been predictably quiet during the ongoing the CBA negotiations, leaving the talking to commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly.

Dolan’s comment, though fairly innocuous, will be a welcome one for the NHLPA, which is surely hoping the profitable franchises will put pressure on Bettman to get a deal done.
