Hal Gill sounds like he’s ready to go

Hal Gill Preds

Last we saw Predators defenseman Hal Gill was in the handshake line after losing to Phoenix in the second round of the playoffs. He toughed out that series after missing a chunk of time thanks to a Sheldon Souray slap shot that broke his leg.

Now, according to Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean, he sounds like he’s ready to get back to his version of full speed whenever it’s time to play again.

“Right now you try to get the base of the skating so if you move forward you’re not worried about that when you’re in a game or practice and trying to impress the coaches,” Gill said. “You try to get everything done today so you don’t have to worry about it tomorrow.”

Gill joins captain Shea Weber as the two true veteran guys on the blue line. It’ll be up to Gill to help balance a corps that’s still acclimating themselves to Barry Trotz’s brand of hockey.

With younger guys like Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi, the Preds will need Gill to stay strong on the back line. Perhaps getting out of the way of guys with monster shots like Souray would help.
