Brad Marchand has signed a four-year, $18 million contract extension with the Bruins, the club announced today.
The 24-year-old sniper/rat has one year left on his current deal. The extension runs through the 2016-17 season.
Marchand is coming off an impressive 28-goal season – second on the B’s behind Tyler Seguin (29 goals) – but one that also saw him suspended five games in January for clipping Vancouver defenseman Sami Salo.
A third-round pick in the 2006 draft, the winger scored 11 goals during the 2011 playoffs, helping Boston win its first Stanley Cup since 1972.
