Habs add John Madden as a scout

John Madden

John Madden took a circuitous route to a great NHL career, but the Montreal Canadiens hope he’ll do a better job identifying NCAA talent than the teams who allowed him to go undrafted in 1993.

NHL.com reports that the Habs added Madden as a scout.

Madden won a Selke Trophy in 2001, yet he’ll likely be best remembered for the team successes he enjoyed.

The two-way forward won two Stanley Cups with the New Jersey Devils and one with the Chicago Blackhawks.

His career ended against the Devils, as his short stay with the Florida Panthers came to a halt in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinals series in 2012.
