Man pleads guilty after 2012 Winter Classic incident

As we previously reported, an incident occurred following the 2012 Winter Classic which led to the arrest of Dennis Veteri.

Veteri has pleaded guilty to aggravated and simple assault and conspiracy, according to the the Philadelphia Inquirer. They also stated that the aggravated assault charge comes with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

The incident took place at Geno’s following the game and involved fans of the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. Veteri allegedly struck Michael Janacko, who fell to the ground and was then kicked and hit by two or three people. Janacko’s friend, Neal Auricchio Jr. reportedly ended up with a concussion and additional injuries.

Auricchio is a former Marine and was awarded a Purple Heart in Iraq. At the time of the incident, he was an off-duty officer with the Woodbridge Police Department.
