Fourth time’s the charm? That’s how many times the NHL and the city of Glendale have extended their arena management agreement, according to a report from the Arizona Republic.
The NHL will now operate Jobing.com Arena, home of the Phoenix Coyotes, for another 30 days to give Greg Jamison more time to purchase the franchise.
“This provides a period of time that’s necessary to make sure the entire transaction can occur,” City Attorney Craig Tindall said.
When the NHL and Glendale extended the arena deal back in July, we noted that Jamison was reportedly $20 million short of the money needed to buy the franchise from the league. However, since then Jamison has reportedly secured the investment money.
The Phoenix Coyotes quest to get an owner has been a long, winding, and bumpy road. We haven’t reached the end of this saga yet, but perhaps we’re finally approaching the conclusion.
