Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal has the latest from the ongoing saga between the Edmonton Oilers and flashy LW Linus Omark:

There has been no movement on Swedish restricted free-agent winger Linus Omark. The Oilers sent him a new contract proposal, likely two-way, maybe for the same $65,000 he made in Oklahoma City last year, and five per cent more than the $875,000 he made as an NHL.

Omark has not signed it.

“We haven’t heard that he’s signed with anybody else,” said [Edmonton assistant GM Rick] Olczyk.

There was talk last season that Omark might want to return to his old Swedish club, Lulea, but the Kontinental Hockey League pays more money.

Omark, 25, has been something of a lightning road for controversy since debuting in 2010. His shootout exploits were followed by a significant dropoff in ice time in 2011-12 -- this despite posting solid numbers (5G-22A-27PTS in 51 games) during his rookie campaign.

Omark only appeared in 14 contests last season and, in April, took to Twitter to express his desire to leave the organization.
