NHLPA offer: Won’t eliminate salary cap, deemed “better than expected” and “interesting”

While waiting on specifics of what was included in the NHLPA’s “alternative view” to the NHL’s original CBA proposal, here are a few of the early reports, thoughts and impressions from Twitter.

First, an interesting note from RDS’ Renaud P Lavoie:

NHLPA won’t ask the NHL to get rid of the salary cap system. Important step to make sure they’ll be hockey at one point this season.

In terms of how the offer was received, here’s TSN NHL analyst Aaron Ward:

Sense is the NHL believes todays proposal from the NHLPA was better than what was expected. No details on proposal yet.#CBA #TSN

First impression of NHLPA proposal was that it was not a ‘counter attack’ in response to the League’s July 13th proposal. #TSN

Second impression was that it possessed economic elements that were ‘interesting’ to the League. #TSN
