The New Jersey Devils have signed 2012 first-round selection Stefan Matteau to an entry-level deal.

As per club policy, contract terms weren’t announced. Matteau was taken 29th overall at the draft after spending the last two seasons with the United States Development Program.

It’s been a busy summer for the 18-year-old (who’s father, Stephane, scored one of the mot heartbreaking goals in Devils history.)

He participated in New Jersey’s prospect camp last month and recently played in the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp, where he scored a goal in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over Finland.

All signs points to Matteau playing next season in the QMJHL for Blainville-Boisbriand, where his dad is an assistant coach.
