Poile on Weber’s no-trade clause request: “We have not resolved that yet”

Once the Nashville Predators matched the Shea Weber offer sheet, many pivoted discussions to the possibility of adding a no-trade or no-movement clause.

GM David Poile told Josh Cooper that there’s been some discussion about that issue, but no resolution at this time.

“We’ve discussed it,” Poile said, “but we have not resolved that yet.”

Adding such a clause wouldn’t provide a tangible benefit for the Predators; technically it would only limit their options if they decided to trade Weber.

Giving Weber some added peace of mind might help keep him happy, though. That’s not a small concern since they matched that 14-year, $110 million contract, after all.

Whether the Predators satisfy that desire or not, they can’t trade him next season.
