NHL and NHLPA finish “two productive days of meetings” in New York

Other than the fact the two sides met again today in New York, there’s not a whole lot of news to report on the CBA front.

At this point in the negotiations, that’s probably a good thing.

“We had two productive days of meetings with the NHLPA and the players, concluding this afternoon at about 1:45 pm,” said NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly in a release. “A number of important issues were raised on both sides of the table, all of which will be discussed more thoroughly as we get deeper into bargaining. We are pleased with the level of engagement and look forward to meeting again next week.”

At the very least, neither side has come out of a meeting and publicly criticized its counterpart.

Of course, the tone is likely to change once negotiations start hitting the inevitable snags. We may not hear the complaints straight from the horses’ mouth, but they’ll come out one way or another.
