Anze Kopitar is one of just two people from the small country of Slovenia to play in the NHL last season. He’s also one of the big reasons the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup. So it seems only fair that he got to bring the coveted trophy back with him.

According to Philip Pritchard, who is the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Vice President and Curator, Slovenia is the 24th country the Stanley Cup has been to. As you can see, there was quite a lot of buzz surrounding the event (photo curtsy of the LA Kings official Twitter feed):

Naturally, before its big day, the Cup got its own bed - or maybe Kopitar decided to sleep with it. He posted this picture on Twitter:

If you’re so inclined, you can also watch a video of him eating breakfast out of the Cup.

All-in-all, it looks like Kopitar’s enjoying himself, and given that he’s just 24, this might not be the last time that he gets to take that special piece of hardware back home.
