Dallas’ Wandell accepts qualify offer: one year, $892,500

Tom Wandell

According to Mark Stepneski of the Dallas Stars website, RFA forward Tom Wandell has accepted his qualifying offer -- a one-year, one-way deal for $892,500.

It’s a slight raise from the $775,000 he made annually on his last contract.

Wandell, 25, has spent his entire career with the Dallas organization after being drafted in 2005, emerging as a solid bottom-six checking forward over the last two seasons. The Swedish center tied a career-high with 15 points last year.

That said, it appears Wandell will be in tough for ice time next season. With Jamie Benn and Derek Roy entrenched as the top two centers, Wandell projects to fight Vern Fiddler and the recently acquired Cody Eakin for spots three and four.
