Habs lock up Price: six years, $39 million

The Montreal Canadiens have signed all-star goalie Carey Price to a six-year contract extension, the club announced today. The deal is reportedly worth $39 million, an annual cap hit of $6.5 million.

Price, 24, went 26-28-4 in 2011-12 with a .916 save percentage and 2.43 goals-against average. His performance was far from the reason the Habs finished with the third-worst record in the NHL.

Only Pekka Rinne ($7 million) and Henrik Lundqvist ($6.875 million) have a higher cap hit than Price.
