Nash says thanks but no thanks to Sens

Columbus Blue Jackets v Phoenix Coyotes

Wherever Rick Nash ends up, it won’t be Ottawa. Senators GM Bryan Murray confirmed today that the Columbus captain has refused to waive his no-trade clause to play in Canada’s capital.

“There was no sense in chasing -- we didn’t feel that was necessary,” Murray said, as per Sportsnet’s Ian Mendes.

It’s a similar message to the one assistant GM Tim Murray conveyed last week when he spoke of the Sens’ attempts to land Nash: “If you have to beg, it’s probably the wrong player that you’re talking to.”

We’re not sure who will be more disappointed at Nash’s decision – Murray or Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson, who was believed to be targeting highly touted Ottawa goalie Robin Lehner.
