File this under “reasons to avoid a lockout” – according to SportsBusiness Journal, season-ticket sales are going just swimmingly around most of the NHL.
Among the notables:
—- Dallas Stars, up 5 to 10 percent
—- Florida Panthers, new sales up 148 percent compared to this time last year
—- Los Angeles Kings, expect to sell out of season tickets for the first time since moving to the Staples Center in 1999
—- St. Louis Blues, new sales up “significantly”
The only team that reported decreased sales was Columbus.
Six teams — Calgary, Carolina, Colorado, Edmonton, the New York Islanders and New York Rangers — declined to comment. Of those six, Carolina, Colorado and the Islanders would be the most interesting to know.
