Report: Habs still considering Roy for head coach

Patrick Roy isn’t out of the race to become head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, reports La Presse.

We haven’t heard Roy’s name much lately in regards to the Habs’ coaching vacancy. After the Flames tapped Bob Hartley yesterday, it was said to be down to Michel Therrien and Marc Crawford.

If the former goalie great is indeed still being considered, La Presse reporter Philippe Cantin believes a major impediment to his hiring could be Roy’s desire to have a say in team personnel. With general manager Marc Bergevin, plus assistant GMs Rick Dudley, Larry Carriere and director of player development Scott Mellanby, it could be a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. (Not to mention, Roy is the kind of cook that throws pots, pans and knives around.)
