When you become the sixth team to ever start the playoffs 11-1 (as an eighth seed, by the way), it encourages a certain amount of hyperbole. Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter deflected that in an honest and/or ingenious way.
When reporters asked if the Kings are a “team of destiny,” Sutter responded: “What’s destiny?”
So, to review: he claims ignorance of destiny and isn’t Nostradamus. That actually makes a lot of sense, especially since the most important thing is that he knows how to coach a hockey team.
(We might want to pool some money together and get him a dictionary, though.)
