What the New Jersey Devils have been calling a lower-body injury is actually a back problem for Ilya Kovalchuk, reports The Star-Ledger.
The newspaper cites two sources in its story and writes that Kovalchuk’s injury has gotten “progressively worse in the last few days.”
Yesterday it was reported he received “therapy,” and now we know why.
Kovalchuk will miss tonight’s game in Philadelphia. Beyond that is anyone’s guess.
Game 3 of the Devils-Flyers series goes Thursday in Newark.
