The Ottawa Senators put Daniel Alfredsson on a line with Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek in the third period of Game 1 and the results were positive. Alfredsson found the back of the net and both of his linemates registered assists.
It was too little, too late, as the Rangers earned a 4-2 victory in Game 1, but it was enough to convince Senators coach Paul MacLean to go with that line again in Game 2.
“We have instant chemistry,” said Spezza. “Alfie and I have played a lot of years together. We don’t always play together now to start games but we do throughout games.”
Erik Condra will join Kyle Turris and Nick Foligno on the second line. We’ll see if those combinations are enough to turn the tide for the Senators as they try and avoid falling behind in the series 2-0.
