It’s obviously very early in the process, but Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby left the ice bloodied after taking a puck to the face.
Update: Arthur Staple reports that Crosby didn’t take very long to return and that his mouth took the “brunt” of the abuse. For the time being, it looks like Crosby and the Penguins dodged an injury bullet.
It looked scary at first, though, as you can see from these Tweets. First, NHL.com’s Brian Compton captures the unsettling initial scene:
“Crosby hit in the face with a puck, leaves a trail of blood.”
Pittsburgh beat writer Josh Yohe provides an idea of how much blood was lost:
“Lengthy delay as Islanders ice girls have trouble removing Crosby’s blood from the ice.”
It all seems OK, though.
