Any rumors about Kyle Brodziak being traded before the Feb. 27 deadline came to an end on Sunday when the Minnesota Wild signed him to a three-year contract extension. The exact financial terms of the deal are not yet known, but Michael Russo of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune is reporting that he’ll earn about $2.83 million per season.

“I’ve never had to deal with anything like it before, so it was definitely on my mind,” Brodziak said of the contract negotiation process. “I’m happy to be part of the organization for a few more years and looking forward to it.”

Brodziak set career-highs last season with 16 goals and 37 points, but he might top them in 2011-12. The Minnesota Wild lean on Brodziak heavily in all situations. He ranks fourth among Wild forwards in time on the ice per game and he’s one of their principle penalty killers. Brodziak and Mikko Koivu are the only two Minnesota players signed through the 2014-15 campaign.
