Sharks’ Murray goes to hospital after taking puck to throat

Douglas Murray is one of the NHL’s toughest defensemen, but sometimes that comes with its disadvantages. David Amber reports that the San Jose Sharks blueliner was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons after a puck struck him in the throat.

The “precautionary” part implies that things might not be too serious, but the extent of the injury has yet to be determined.

Losing Murray for an extended amount of time would be a big blow to the Sharks as the hard-hitting defenseman adds a significant physical element to the team’s blueline corps. He recently played the 400th game of his NHL career.
