The Bruins and Canucks are set to do it all over again, albeit for just one game.
Boston and Vancouver will square off this afternoon in a Stanley Cup finals rematch in Boston that sees both teams come into the game on fire. Boston has been virtually unstoppable this season by both scoring a ton of goals and not allowing their opponents to get on the board. Their video game-like performance this year has it set up so that they’ll be the odds on favorites to win it all again.
Vancouver, like Boston, started the season slowly leading to a lot of talk about hangovers. Now with that slow start behind them, the Canucks are rolling. Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin are again doing their thing and both sit near the top of the league points race and even Roberto Luongo has been playing great of late.
Of course, Luongo won’t have to worry about anything today as Cory Schneider gets the start. A little “Bruins flu” perhaps? Not likely, but with how well Luongo has been playing, giving him the start against Boston would’ve been like dropping a grenade in his season.
It may not be right to call this game a huge test for Vancouver, but after last year’s miserable performance in the finals this might be it.
