Queen Elizabeth II could be hanging in your living room (that came out wrong)

Queen

Sometime in the new year, you could become the proud owner of a piece of Winnipeg hockey history. But you should probably have a pretty big house. With extremely high ceilings.

Indeed, the enormous portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that hung in the since-demolished Winnipeg Arena is set to be auctioned off in 2012.

According to CBC.ca, the portrait is five-by-seven metres (16-by-23 feet) and has been sitting in an Ontario warehouse for the past 10 years. It’s currently owned by a Vancouver man.

The painting has undergone restoration work, “including repairs to the marks left behind by hockey players who used to try to hit the Queen’s mouth with the puck.”

Anyway, not exactly sure who would want to buy a gigantic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, but hopefully it goes to a good home.

Next up for auction, a gigantic portrait of Dave Ellett.
