Eric Nystrom won Movember

If you’ve ever watched National Hockey League playoff action (and since you’re on a site called ProHockeyTalk, I’m guessing you have), you know that NHLers are quite adept at growing facial hair. Ergo, there should be no surprise the NHL raised $220,000 for the battle against prostate cancer, according to Movember.com.

Toronto lead all teams in funds raised, due in large part to the grey caterpillar that resided on Ron Wilson’s upper lip over the last 30 days. Coming in second were the Dallas Stars, led by checking forward Eric Nystrom. Nystrom led all NHL players with $5,739 raised over the month and grew a solid ‘stache:

“I just put the word out, and my family and friends stepped up to the plate, donated money,” Nystrom told the Dallas Morning News. “It’s for a great cause, so why wouldn’t you?”

It was a great cause, but not just for charities. Movember also provided many websites with countless pages of filler content. If you’d like to see another NHL ‘stache gallery, Puck Daddy has one up. It features many quality moustaches, including the one that transformed Dan Bylsma into Mr. Bylsma, Grade 10 Woodworking Instructor.
