This afternoon’s starting goalies – April 2

Whether you’re interested for fantasy hockey reasons or just want to know which goalie your team is playing in a given day, we thought it might be helpful to share our best guesses (based on various previews from newspapers and Web sites plus our own instincts) on who might start each day.

We’ll have tonight’s starters later on today.


Atlanta @ Boston – 1 p.m. ET

Atlanta’s starter: Ondrej Pavelec gets the start in goal for the playoff-less Thrashers. (Source)

Boston’s starter: It’s an afternoon game in Boston and today that means it’s Tuukka time as Tuukka Rask gets the start. (Source)

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota – 2 p.m. ET

Tampa Bay’s starter: Dwayne Roloson gets the start for the Lightning. (Source)

Minnesota’s starter: Niklas Backstrom gets the call in goal for the Wild. (Source)

Detroit @ Nashville – 3 p.m. ET

Detroit’s starter: Jimmy Howard is back for Detroit after missing the last few games with a shoulder ailment suffered against Toronto. (Source)

Nashville’s starter: Pekka Rinne gets the call against the Wings. He’s been lights out in his career against Detroit. (Source)

Dallas @ Los Angeles – 4 p.m. ET

Dallas’ starter: Kari Lehtonen gets the nod in a crucial game for the Stars. (Source)

Los Angeles’ starter: Jon Quick gets the start for the Kings in what’s an important game for them just the same. (Source)
