A scare today for Chicago as the Blackhawks head team physician Dr. Michael Terry announced that coach Joel Quenneville was hospitalized late last night after feeling severe discomfort at his home. Quenneville was taken to the emergency room and was admitted to be taken care of. He’s currently in stable condition and being treated for an undisclosed ailment. The Blackhawks report that it was not cardiac in nature, however.

With the Blackhawks set to play tonight at home against Minnesota, assistant coach Mike Haviland will assume head duties tonight while Quenneville recovers from his ailment. Quenneville coached the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup last year, the first time he’s won it as a head coach in the NHL.

There’s no timetable for when Quenneville will be back to action, but you just hope for a speedy recovery for one of the more well-liked coaches in the league.
