Video: Thrashers forward Freddy Meyer’s scary collapse

For the second time this season, an Atlanta Thrashers player collapsed on the ice. Forward Freddy Meyer was the most recent to do so during tonight’s game against the Calgary Flames, while Ondrej Pavelec fainted suddenly in a scary scene during the team’s first game of the 2010-11 campaign.

As you can see from the video located at the bottom of this post, Meyer took a bit of a bump from Flames forward Rene Bourque, but it certainly didn’t seem like the type of thing that would cause such a reaction. TSN’s Bob McKenzie speculates that perhaps the fainting spell was related to a concussion, which he might have suffered earlier.

The good news is that Meyer eventually left the ice under his own power, according to NHL Fanhouse. It’s unclear at this time if Meyer will miss any time due to the incident, but hopefully Atlanta will be careful with the situation. Especially if he is, indeed, suffering from a concussion.
