Mike Komisarek’s disappointing tour with Toronto continues on a downward trend. Today we learned that Komisarek will be out 7-10 days with a finger injury suffered against Pittsburgh. Komisarek got into two different fights against the Penguins, one with Arron Asham and the second time with Michael Rupp. Komisarek missed the Leafs last game against Philadelphia.

While the Leafs defense was bolstered with Dion Phaneuf’s return to action, Komisarek’s departure means the Leafs had to put Brett Lebda back in the lineup, an experiment that hasn’t worked out very well so far this year. The Leafs upcoming schedule sees them play four more games in the next week starting tomorrow at home against Montreal followed up by a run through western Canada to face Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Those are a lot of high profile games for the Leafs but certainly offer up a couple of winnable games. The question is, are the Leafs better off without him playing? As long as it’s Brett Lebda taking his place then the answer is simply, “no.”
