In a game that featured 15 goals in all, you’d think this would make for a game with a likely selection for the goal of the night. You’d be right because in the wild first period that saw the Flyers and Lightning combine for nine goals in all, the goal of the night comes from the most unlikely of sources in Lightning defenseman Brett Clark. Clark isn’t a goal-scoring threat by any means, but perhaps he’s got a slap shot that demands a bit more respect as his first period goal had to be reviewed to see that it, indeed, did go in.
Clark’s slap shot was so hard that it tore through the back of the net and had to be confirmed on replay that it went in. Not since Shea Weber did this in the Olympics have we seen such a tremendous blast. Check it out on the video here.
