Today’s Starting Goalies - November 8

Whether you’re interested for fantasy hockey reasons or just want to know which goalie your team is playing in a given day, we thought it might be helpful to share our best guesses (based on various previews from newspapers and Web sites plus our own instincts) on who might start each day.

There’s only one game tonight, so chances are you aren’t hurting too badly for fantasy hockey starting goalie advice. But hey, for those of you who have Chris Osgood, Jimmy Howard and Ilya Bryzgalov - or just those who want to know - here are our best guesses.

7:30 PM ET game

Phoenix @ Detroit

Likely Phoenix starter: Bryzgalov - Under normal circumstances, the talented Russian will get the start. He hasn’t been as dominant as he was during the 2009-10 season, but that probably has as much to do with the team in front of him as anyone else. (Source: Phoenix Coyotes Web site.)

Likely Detroit starter: Howard - He had the worst performance of his short NHL career on Saturday, allowing six goals on the road against the Vancouver Canucks. Osgood has been dealing with an injury lately, so despite the bad start, it seems like the odds are high that Howard will get the nod. The Red Wings begin a six-game homestand tonight, so they want to get off to a good start. (Source: Winging it in Motown.)
