If you’ve been wondering about whether or not the NHL and the NHL officials have gotten their act together over whether or not to approve their new four-year Collective Bargaining Agreement, you can wonder no more. The NHL Board of Governors and the NHL Officials Association today ratified the four-year agreement.

The NHL issued these statements from the interested parties in the negotiations:

“We are pleased to have reached a new agreement with our officials,” said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. “We look forward to working closely will our officials to ensure that the quality of our game continues to be the best that it can be.”

“NHL officials are the best in the world and will continue to bring their dedication to ensuring a quality on-ice product,” said Harry Radomski, Executive Director of the NHLOA. “These negotiations have been reflective of the relationship between the NHLOA and NHL which is characterized by a mutual desire for what is best for the game.”

One labor issue down for the NHL to take care of, one more to go when the end of the 2011-2012 season arrives. We don’t expect things to go quite as easily in those negotiations with the NHLPA when that CBA comes to an end. At least now we don’t have to worry about getting even more questionable officiating up from the minor leagues for at least four years. That’s good... Right?
