Today’s Starting Goalies - October 26

Whether you’re interested for fantasy hockey reasons or just want to know which goalie your team is playing in a given day, we thought it might be helpful to share our best guesses (based on various previews from newspapers and Web sites plus our own instincts) on who might start each day.

7:00 PM ET game

Florida @ Toronto

Likely Florida starter: Scott Clemmensen - It looks like Clemmensen will receive some clemency from the pain of sitting on the bench, as he will likely receive his first start of the season tonight. The Panthers might be wise to give him a start in this situation, as the Maple Leafs haven’t been too explosive lately. (Source: Paul Hendrick.)

Likely Toronto starter: J.S. Giguere (Source: James Mirtle.)

7:30 PM ET games

Buffalo @ Philadelphia

Likely Buffalo starter: Ryan Miller - I’m struggling to find confirmation on this one, but it at least looks like Miller will get another start tonight. When in doubt, start him, even when he’s struggling.

Likely Philadelphia starter: Sergei Bobrovsky - It’s not easy to root against a goalie with such a fabulous last name, is it? (Source: Flyers Twitter page.)

Phoenix @ Ottawa

Likely Phoenix starter: Jason LaBarbera - It looks the Coyotes will give their starter a rest since they’re playing back-to-back games tonight. That means that we should see the man I like to call “The Barber” in net against the Senators. (Source: Coyotes Twitter page.)

Likely Ottawa starter: Brian Elliott - While the Senators are looking quite awful, Elliott is the kind of stable (if unspectacular) goalie that Ottawa needs to scratch and claw its way back to semi-relevance. (Source: Senators Twitter page.)

9:00 PM ET games

Anaheim @ Dallas

Likely Anaheim starter: Jonas Hiller - This is Hiller’s team. (Source: OC Register.)

Likely Dallas starter: Kari Lehtonen - Lehtonen looks to get his eighth start of the season tonight. He’s been a workhorse so far and while that’s logical, his injury history suggests that it might be wise to give shaky backup Andrew Raycroft the nod sooner or later. (Source: Defending Big D.)

Edmonton @ Calgary

Likely Edmonton starter: Nikolai Khabibulin - He’s been playing relatively well so far this season and the Oilers lack much in the way of backups, so expect him to start with considerable regularity. (Source for both: Copper & Blue.)

Likely Calgary starter: Miikka Kiprusoff - Even less surprising than seeing Khabibulin in net for the Oilers. Should be a fun episode of the Battle of Alberta tonight. (Source for both: Copper & Blue.)

10:00 PM ET game

Colorado @ Vancouver

Likely Colorado starter: Peter Budaj - If Budaj can prove to be a solid backup, that would give former backup Craig Anderson a nice occasional breather this season. The Avs need Anderson to play well if they have any hope of back-to-back playoff appearances. (Source: Adrian Dater of the Denver Post.)

Likely Vancouver starter: Roberto Luongo (Source: Canucks Twitter page.)
